The literature is replete...

with empirical research linking health outcomes with nutrition, life-style and exercise.

Today about 1/2 of all American adults-117 million people, have 1 or more preventable chronic diseases, many of which are related to poor quality eating patterns and physical inactivity. 1

The overwhelming conclusion is that there is a major crisis  in America  with very serious and very costly consequences.  Obesity, disease, hunger, malnutrition, food deserts, scarcity, addiction, crime, efficacy of mental health interventions, and disruptive and anti-social  behaviors, all are impacted by nutrition , exercise, and life-style  choices.  The nation is weaker if its citizens are suffering and their options are limited.  For children this results in a lack of learning capacity leading to addictions as an adult.
